Fun Foiled Aperture Cards
Fun Foiled Aperture Cards
The technique for foiling the apertures is the same on all of the cards - they are just different sizes.
These are cut/foil dies so you'll need either 2 thin metal shims or the Couture Creations Metal Conversion Plate on your GoPress & Foil to foil them. You can also use these as normal dies in your die cutting machine and they will emboss around the aperture and you can use pigment inks on them if you want to create a coloured border at the same time as die cutting.

I've foiled my sentiment onto some acetate and then secured that to the back of the aperture using double sided tape. User shaker foam or 2 layers of foam pads on the back of the card front around the aperture and around the edges. Around the aperture you need to make sure there are not gaps big enough for the sequins to fall through. If you use glitter or seed beads make sure there are not gaps at all.
When you are ready to stick down the card front, add a pile of beads and/or sequins in the centre and then stick the card front down trapping them in the aperture behind the acetate.

The "Celebrate" sentiment is one of the Delightful Sentiments range. You can foil it in the same way as the aperture cut/foil dies or just die cut and you can ink and die cut.
For the last card I cut/foiled 4 small apertures to hold the letters spelling out LOVE.
The apertures are cut into a panel of black card, which is then mounted onto a piece of black card the same size. Then both are matted onto red mirror card. The letters are also cut/foil dies.
At the bottom of the card I've added a die cut heart with a flag cut from black card. The flag helps the "You" stand out against the background I've used. The "You" is from the Delightful Sentiments Range of cut/foil dies. These are foiled in the same way as the aperture dies and can also be just die cut or inked and die cut.
I show you how to foil with the aperture dies and alphabet dies in my video.

Peaceful Peonies Envelope Pocket Card
Peaceful Peonies Envelope Pocket Card

For this card I've used one of the patterned papers from the Peaceful Peonies 6 1/2" paper pad, dies and hot foil stamps from the Peaceful Peonies collection, along with die cut/foiled flowers and a mini envelope made using the Couture Creations Mini Scoring Board.
I've covered my 7" x 7" card blank with some pale pink pearl card and added a mat for the patterned paper using some green pearl card. I've then used more of both card stock to die cut some of the foliage and for the die cut heart the sentiment is mounted on.
I show how to use cut/foil dies with foil or ink, and how to make the envelope in my video (link at bottom of page).

I've added foiling on the inside of the envelope flap. This is done before folding the side and bottom flaps on the score lines, so that the card will lie flat on top of the hot foil stamp.
Here's how to make the envelope:
Cut a piece of white card to 5" square.

Where the score lines cross over, you need to cut away the card - cut so that the score lines are removed with the card you remove.
It will be easier to foil the envelope if you leave burnishing the folds until after you have added the foiling. I show how to position the hot foil stamp in my video. It may help to mark the top flap on the back of the card to make sure you put the card on the foiling platform the right way round.
To finish the envelope fold in the side flaps, then fold up the bottom flap and use glue or double sided tape to stick it in place, but be careful only to put glue or tape on the area where it overlaps the side flaps.
The foiled leaf under the heart and sentiment is stuck in place partly under the envelope, so check where both will be placed and glue the leaf in place first, then the envelope.

I've left a gap in the middle of the flower spray for the foiling on the envelope flap to show through.
The card is finished with the die cut/foiled peony bouquet and the sentiment.
